私は目まぐるしくすぎるこの時代の中で芸術には何ができるのか、この現代で絵を描く理由を改めて見つめ直しています。
街から離れ静岡県の裾野市での日々を重ねるほどに、絵を描くという営みが穏やかな暮らしの延長にあると感じています。
昔の人が神さまへ芸を奉納するお祈りの形と、この時代の私たちが芸術を通して感動する時の気持ちとは、どこかで繋がっているのではないかと思っています。
自然への感謝と人と人との縁の中で、私たちが今日を生きられていること。感じられること。
そんな日々の積み重ねが、私たちの豊かさを育んでいきますように。富士山へ作品を奉納させて頂きたいと思っています。
Living through an era that rushes past, I find myself looking again at what art can do, and at why I paint in a time like this.
The longer my days settle here in Susono, away from the city, the more painting feels like a natural extension of a quiet life.
The old way of offering one’s art to the gods in prayer feels, to me, quietly connected to the way art still moves our hearts today.
That we are able to live this day, and to feel it — held in gratitude to nature and in the bonds between people.
May the gathering of such days nurture a richness in all of us. It is in this spirit that I wish to offer my work to Mt. Fuji.
